Do clients really demand Article 8? Plus: Don’t write off private assets
Citywire Amplify - asset management uncovered

They could hardly be more important to fund groups. Distribution leaders. The sales their teams make, and the clients they retain, keep the wheels turning. Amplify had an opportunity to get four such sales chiefs in front of our video camera, and we’re featuring the first of three videos today: Are European clients demanding funds be Article 8?

Alongside the video, you’ll notice we’ve included polling of fund selectors, taken from our biggest European events. Those polls are the basis of our story about private assets. With a resurgence of fixed income, has the interest in private assets come and gone? We look at the numbers and the not-so-obvious conclusions.

Choosing the right private asset funds to invest in takes expertise, and experience also counts if you’re trying to sell them. Goldman Sachs Asset Management has been involved in this market for three decades but has recently focused its efforts to add $100bn. Amplify asks GSAM how it grew the division and how it can grow further.

And catch up with another head of ESG, Sandra Carlisle, whose 20 plus year career in SRI began with a ‘bonkers’ pitch to her boss.

Finally, if you haven’t already, please take a couple of minutes to complete our asset management pay survey. Your answers will power a data-led benchmarking report.
