by | Nov 9, 2022 | Newsletters

This week, we look at the fund-buying habits of selectors and private bankers in Europe and Asia. Elsewhere, we examine the progress of the ESG reporting standards set at COP26 last year, and bid farewell to Edward Bonham Carter, the retiring former Jupiter CEO.

European market rediscovers bonds Plus: ISSB report, farewell EBC
Citywire Amplify - asset management uncovered

As world leaders meet in Sharm el-Sheikh for the COP27 climate summit this week, another momentous gathering for the investment world will take place: Citywire’s Berlin event. The get-together for European fund buyers is one of our largest. Several fund groups will be pitching their products. We looked at how the pendulum has swung across asset classes, individual sectors and even mentions of ESG.

We can also report on appetites in the Asian market, from a recent event in Singapore. More than 90 delegates were polled on China, their equity outlooks and private markets, plus there is a surprising result around defensive positions.

Back to COP, finance day takes place on Wednesday. Ahead of that, we have an analysis of the biggest thing for fund groups to come out of last year’s event: the International Sustainability Standards Board. Get to grips with materiality and emission scope challenges in advance.

And it’s farewell to one of the best-known names in UK fund management leadership, Edward Bonham Carter, who has retired from Jupiter. Known as a boss who backed his fund managers, ‘EBC’ also pulled off a successful listing. Citywire chairman Lawrence Lever looks back on his career.

Thanks for voting in our poll. Readers either wanted to work from home a lot more, or work in the office more. Good luck if you’re a line manager! Our new poll is about stress – find it at the bottom of this week’s articles.
