‘Where are we now? And where are we going to be in 30 years?’ The fact that ESG is now a mainstream consideration doesn’t mean there isn’t a whole lot more work to be done.

That is according to a panel of investment professionals and ESG specialists who convened earlier this month to talk about the evolution of sustainable investing, what barriers continue to exist, the role of education and how to gauge progress.

In this first video, fund buyers from across Europe share their views on what they look for when it comes to understanding whether a change is actually taking place – be it in their own culture, in their investments or across the industry as a whole.

The panel was moderated by Chris Sloley, editor of Citywire Selector. It featured:

  • Stuart Dunbar, partner, Baillie Gifford;
  • Frank Huttel, senior adviser and portfolio manager, FiNet Asset Management;
  • Arnaud Heymann, fund selector, Edmond de Rothschild;
  • Vincent Triesschijn, global ESG and sustainable investing, ABN Amro
  • Petra Besson Fencikova, head of ESG investments, Société Générale Private Banking
