NextGen revamp for EMEA fund as vets retire

New York 

It is all change at Morgan Stanley’s emerging EMEA fund.

Paul Psaila and Eric Carlson, who have run the fund since its launch in 2000, have stepped down in favour of Steven Quattry and Jorge Chirino, who have 34 years of industry experience between them.

Not only that, but the fund has been refocused to capture a wider array of frontier opportunities and is now called the MS INVF NextGen Emerging Markets fund.

Psaila and Carlson will remain with the firm, working on other emerging market equity strategies.

Neuberger Berman vet Turek retires

Chicago

After 20 years at Neuberger Berman and almost four decades in the business, Kenneth Turek is planning to retire next year, taking leave of the $1.7bn (£1.39bn) Mid Cap Growth and $329m Small Cap Growth funds. Taking the reins of both funds will be Chad Bruso and Trevor Moreno, who became co-managers in late 2021. They will work alongside associate portfolio manager Jennifer Blachford.

Rated duo replace Miller at $500m BlackRock fund

New York

Bob Miller, head of the US multi-sector fixed income team at BlackRock, will leave the $549m US Government Bond fund on 1 September. Citywire + rated managers Matthew Kraeger and Siddharth Mehta will continue to run the fund.

M&G goes large on Apac fixed income… 

Singapore

M&G has hired Guan Yi Low as head of fixed income in Asia Pacific as it builds up its Singapore-based team. Low will be setting up global and emerging market credit management and research teams focusing across sovereign, investment grade and high yield classes and will also develop M&G’s first-ever dedicated Asia Pacific strategy.

… while BambuBlack hires for Apac equities

London 

BambuBlack Asset Management has hired Pinakin Patel as a portfolio manager to strengthen its investment team. Patel joined the Asia Pacific long-only equities boutique from Allianz Global Investors in Hong Kong, where he served as an investment specialist.

Federated Hermes poaches veteran fixed income expert from Aviva 

London 

Aviva Investors’ loss is Federated Hermes’ gain as veteran manager Orla Garvey joins as a senior fixed income portfolio manager.

Quaero bags two new property hires

Paris 

Quaero Capital has made two hires for its real estate team as it seeks to expand its property expertise. Alexandre Renault, who has 16 years’ experience in the area, has joined as head of real estate management, while Margaux Cugura has come across from PwC to be a real estate fund manager.
