Montanaro has hired a Jupiter business development manager Daniel Powner to boost its regional presence.

Powner, who is leaving Jupiter on his own accord and was not part of the recent round of redundancies at the asset manager, will take responsibility for Montanaro’s South West and Midlands business, reporting to head of UK advisory sales Chris Crier.

Powner spent five years at Jupiter and has a total of nine years’ experience, which included a two-year stint with Janus Henderson.

His appointment lifts the number of employees at Montanaro, which was founded by Charles Montanaro in 1991, to a record high of 37.  The business oversees £4bn in assets under management.

‘Daniel joins at an exciting time for the business,’ Montanaro CEO Cedric Durant des Aulnois said.

‘[We are] firmly committed to strengthening its presence in the IFA market and we look forward to leveraging on Daniel’s experience in this field.’
